OUR MISSION To help women cope with the hardships of life as a woman whether married, single or a single parent. Through the experiences of others, help each other learn to make their own world better for themselves and their family. In February of 1999, Sue Hargrave, gathered together a group of women that she had been learning some great things from. She felt that if these women could help her, through their own experiences, not make some of the mistakes she would surely make if she wasn't aware, then why couldn't they help each other. So, on Sunday, February 21, 1999, the group began. We meet each month and share experiences. Some of the women are great budgeters who help members with financial woes. Some are great cooks, who we take advantage of at our yearly Christmas potluck. We have a woman who helps kids each week feel better about themselves and she knows just what to say to make some members feel good too. The women in this group are so very special and really want to help each other be the best they can be by feeling good about themselves. Yes, things are beginning to get better and more equal for women but it is still a daily emotional struggle being a woman in today's society. Our goal in the support group is to help each other manage the several different roles of womanhood, i.e., motherhood, wife, breadwinner perhaps, friend, lover, care-giver. Our monthly meetings are to support each other growth in many different areas. We do not lash out at the world and the way it is, we find ways to make our own worlds better. If through the knowledge we gain in these meetings we can help someone we meet that is icing on the cake. We meet in Sierra Madre California each month but get email from all over the world and via email will do our best to help anyone we can. Send any questions, thoughts or advise to Sue Hargrave. Browse our site which has notes on some of the subjects of our past meetings. If you live in the Sierra Madre, CA area, join us for one of our meetings. Contact Information Please do send me your comments about our site or about things that you want put on our site. I am always open to suggestions. If anyone needs to talk via email because you are not close by, email me and if you have a question or concern I can not answer, I will ask the Support Group at our monthly meeting and hopefully be able to give you the answers you need.
